Master of Library and Information Management
The Master of Library and Information Management is designed to educate library leaders who will become part of a global community of leaders and researchers able to access, evaluate and apply recorded information in a myriad of formats critically and ethically.
The program provides a solid foundation of course work followed by a rich array of specialization and elective options culminating in a unique capstone project.
The capstone project is a paper or self-designed/faculty-guided project that demonstrates knowledge, skills and understanding of the history, ethics, research, political, technological, economic and ethical issues of information in national and international librarianship and the role of librarians in a diverse society. Capstone proposals are subject to approval by the student’s faculty adviser and graded by the adviser and two additional faculty members.
The class schedule is very flexible. Courses are offered entirely online each fall and spring semester and during the summer. The program may be completed on a part-time or full-time basis.
Application
To qualify for admission to the MLIM program, prospective students must hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution and have earned an undergraduate GPA of at least 3.0. (Neither the GMAT nor the GRE is required for application/admission to this program.) International applicants are required to submit a TOEFL score and must have earned a score of at least 100, with at least 20 in each section. Proof of financial support is required of admit-ted international applicants.
Applicants will also submit a professional resume, a statement of purpose, three letters of recommendation and transcripts from each institution of higher education attended.

Curriculum
The MLIM degree requires 42 semester units – 18 units of required foundation courses, 21 units of electives, and 3 units of capstone. Foundation courses must be completed prior to taking electives.
