501L Physical Assessment (2) Instruction in patient interviewing skills; history taking and physical assessment skills; complete and systematic pelvic examination; evaulation of the reproductive organs and bony pelvis. Prerequisite: registered nurse with baccalaureate degree.
503L Antepartum Care (4) Didactic and clinical skills in managing low-risk antepartum patients; anatomy and physiology of female reproductive system; embryology, fetology, genetics, nutrition. Prerequisite: registered nurse with baccalaureate degree.
505L Neonatology (2) Newborn assessment, physical examination, resuscitation, and newborn status; appropriate treatment modalities. Prerequisite: registered nurse with baccalaureate degree.
507L Intrapartum (4) Didactic and clinical material covering evaluation, care, and delivery of the low-risk mother; routing and emergency care of the infant at birth; maternal anatomy and physiology during labor. Prerequisite: registered nurse with baccalaureate degree.
508L Family Planning/Gynecology (2) Instruction in family planning methods; well woman gynecologic evaluation; human sexuality; screening for pathology. Prerequisite: registered nurse with baccalaureate degree.
509L Postpartum (2) Continuing care of postpartum patients; anatomical, physiological, and emotional changes in the postpartum patient; breastfeeding techniques; bonding techniques. Prerequisite: registered nurse with baccalaureate degree.
510L Nurse-Midwifery Role Practicum (4) Application of nurse-midwifery skills and knowledge in community health settings. Residency with preceptor and faculty guidance in nurse-midwifery care. Prerequisite: OBGY 509L.
